The Annual National Hands & Words Are Not For Hurting Week takes place during the third full week in October

October is National Domestic and Family Violence Awareness/Prevention Month and National Bullying Prevention Month

The purpose of an Annual Proclamation for Hands & Words Are Not For Hurting Week is to bring about community awareness while providing opportunities to come together in unity, for all of our schools, families, and communities to take to heart the 14 Word Purple Hands Pledge®.
Not just for this week, but for a lifetime!

The Board of Directors of Salem-Keizer Public Schools proclaims October 17-23, 2021, to be the 24th Annual National Hands & Words Are Not For Hurting Week in the Salem-Keizer School District. The Proclamation has been translated into Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chuukese, Marshallese, and Swahili.
